Around the Diaz Hotel and Resort

Relax and enjoy the hot summer air next to the outdoor rim-flow pool, exclusively for Diaz Hotel guests.  The resort offers a range of adventure activities which includes an indoor pool, waterworld, play park for kids under 7 and Adventure Golf.  Please note that the resort is separate from the Diaz Hotel and entrance fees are applicable.  The resort may be closed out of season. Private Surfing Lessons can be arranged on request at additional charge.

Other facilities include restaurants, an outside bar and an independent on-premises convenience store.

Family Fun

Mossel Bay offers pristine, safe, blue flag beaches suitable for old and young.  The Hartenbos ATKV holiday resort and river resort is located approx. 6 km from the Diaz Hotel.  Seasonal activity programs are offered on selected beaches, including the Diaz Beach.  The Garden Route Casino is located approx. 13 km from the Diaz Hotel.  Take a trip to the magnificent Point area, popular for surfing and restaurants.  Take a leisure trip to one of the nearby game farms or join local tour operators on a cruise around Seal Island.  Don’t miss the Dias Museum Complex, where, among other things, you can take a tour of the 1988 replica of the caravel on which Dias and his men sailed into the Bay.

For the intrepid local tour operators offers a wide range of water activities, including shark-cage diving, scuba diving, sandboarding, seasonal helicopter flips and sky-diving.  

Self-Drive Trips

Surrounded by the picturesque beauty of the Garden Route, Mossel Bay is ideally located to plan a selection of self-drive trips.  Visit nearby Game Farms for a game drive or quad-biking experience.  Explore the rich and beautiful nature scenes with a drive through the mountain passes (Outeniqua Mountain Pass via George; Swartberg Mountain Pass via Oudtshoorn).  Oudtshoorn is approx. 84 km via the Robertson Mountain Pass, where you can visit the world famous Cango Caves, Ostrich Farms and Cango Wildlife Ranch.  Take a scenic coastal drive via George and Wilderness to Knysna (approx. 104 km), home to the Knysna Heads, Featherbed Tours, river cruises, Knysna Elephant Park, hiking trails and more.  Continue on to Plettenberg Bay (+ approx. 33 km) and visit the world famous Monkey Land, Birds of Eden and Jukani Wildlife Sanctuary.

Shop 'till you drop at  the local curio shops or at any of the 3 malls in and near Mossel Bay: Mossel Bay Mall (Heiderand); Langeberg Mall (Voorbaai); Garden Route Mall (George).  During the summer seasons Mossel Bay offers a selection of charming fleamarkets in Hartenbos and Mossel Bay.
